Friday, July 25 (Cape May)

How did this week go so fast? We just got here. And yet tomorrow we have to leave.

We packed the day with as much as we could. In the morning, Molly, Mom, and I sat on the porch and worked on God's eyes. Around 8:30, Greta and I went on a bike ride and walked on Cove Beach for a little while. Lucia went for a run.

Andrew and I set up on the beach around 10, and when everyone else joined us we took a family photo. A woman from another family took the picture--we've seen this same family all week and have even been next to them on the beach for most of the time. They reminded us of us--grandparents, adult children, and a bunch of teenagers boogie boarding and playing Spike Ball.

I swam a few times and it was lovely. Right at the end of the afternoon there was a jellyfish--I'm glad this happened on our last day.

Later in the afternoon, Andrew, Lucia, Greta, and I drove to Sunset Beach. The girls and I sifted for pebbles and Cape May diamonds. It was blazing hot at that hour, with no shade, so we didn't stay very long. Lucia bought herself some tumbled stones; I bought her a whale-tail necklace and I bought Greta a small glass jar for pebbles.

Dinner was leftovers. Then we went to Kohr's for a final visit. I bought myself a small dandelion charm at a shop called Karma. Lucia bought a crystal necklace and a moon/stars charm.

Back home, we played Balderdash. We got home at just the right time to escape being caught in a huge lightning storm. The street was briefly flooded.

Then it was time to pack, and now the day is over. This has been a great week, in a really beautiful house, and it went much, much too quickly.
