Thursday, August 14 - Friday, August 15

Thursday and Friday were good reward for the busy first half of the week: I worked from home both days, and Molly came for a visit.

Thursday afternoon, I took a long lunch break, and the kids and I went to the pool for a quick dip and lunch. Later on Thursday, Molly arrived after spending the morning in Connellsville, and Andrew took the kids for the usual lightening-round of tutoring, piano, and XC. Since they'd be gone until 9pm, Molly and I went up to the pool for dinner and a long float. Delightful. When everyone got home, the kids and Molly and I watched an episode of This Is Us, while Molly and I made God's eyes. Molly had brought some dowel rods and created a few frames so we could craft-and-watch.

Friday, Farrah and I joined Molly and her dogs for a long walk. A mama deer and her two adorable fawns followed us for part of the way, unusually close. Then I had physical therapy and did some work. In the afternoon, Molly and the girls and I went back to the book sale--Molly had never been. Even though it's been going on for a week, there was still an excellent selection. Molly filled a bag, and Greta and I added a few books too.

Later in the afternoon, Molly and the kids and I played Splendor (Greta won). Then Andrew and the kids went to race in the Rails to Trails event in White Oak (Andrew and Lucia both got second place in their age groups, and Greta beat her time at this race from last year). Unsurprisingly, while they were gone, Molly and I spent another spell at the pool, floating and chatting.

We made dinner for everyone and ate when they got home. Then Molly and I once again worked on God's eyes while we and the kids (and eventually Jeremy, when he arrived) watched the documentary Bama Rush. It was not actually a very good documentary, but I'm glad we don't live in Alabama, and I'm glad the kids were suitably aghast at the rushing-girls' troubling, unwise search for validation and self-esteem.

It's been a lovely couple of days.
