Sunday, August 31 - Saturday, September 6
A whole week of blogging missed. The only excuse is that it was a week full of intense CT scan-ziety, and then a reassuring appointment with my surgeon/oncologist: everything stable, a win. Huge sigh of relief. I had such an amazing summer, feeling back to myself (well, myself with short hair), and now--now I will get an amazing fall, too. Didn't want to bury the lede after such a long absence, so I'm giving the health update up front. Now, the past week's recap:
Sunday, August 31 - Greta had a birthday party to go to, and Lucia had plans with friends, so Andrew and I went up to the pool in the afternoon and had a lovely swim. The water was so warm, though we were freezing once we got out.
Monday, September 1 - Labor Day - We had a super fun day with Mom and Dad in Connellsville. We arrived in the morning and went to Gabe's, where we all found a few things. We went to IHOP for lunch (I'd found a cache of gift cards in a pouch!), and then spent the afternoon at home. Andrew and I took Farrah for a walk; Dad helped Lucia with precalc homework; Mom practiced piano with both girls. Mom made stuffed shells for dinner. An excellent Labor Day.
Tuesday, September 2 - Back to work and school. Then XC, piano lessons, Lucia's tutoring. Tuesdays are always a blur.
Wednesday, September 3 - This was CT scan day. I got my IV in the women's cancer center--my request, since they do a way better job there than in the CT department. The kids had XC. Andrew and I went to a Pirates game.
Thursday, September 4 - Work. School. Farrah got a dramatic haircut since she was so matted and now looks like a poodle, instead of a doodle. Scan-ziety.
Friday, September 5 - Doctor's appointment, where we got affirmation that all is stable and the letrozole is doing its work. Now onward. Lucia had her first XC race of the season--the Red, White, & Blue race at White Oak--in the late afternoon. The girls came in first place, and Lucia had a great race--finishing 19 out of 119 girls. Later, Andrew and I had dinner at the club with Beth and Nate and took a quick swim.
Saturday, September 6 - We all went to Frick Park in the morning, where the kids had XC practice, Andrew went for a run, and Farrah and I went for a walk. Then we dropped Farrah off at home and drove out to Sewickley to check out the Day on the Lawn rummage sale. It did not disappoint, even though this is a hugely popular sale and things were pretty picked over by the time we got there at 1:30. We all got a couple of things. Bonus: there was a Red, White, & Blue thrift store on the way home, so we stopped there too. Andrew got three blazers, I got a dress, and Lucia got a coat and some cute clothes. Greta did not find anything. It's a great thrift store; we'll be back for sure.
In the evening, Lucia went to a party. Andrew, Greta, and I played Scrabble then watched The Illusionist. I crocheted a cute pear while I watched.
