Saturday, July 12 - Tuesday, July 15

It's been a pretty crazy few days. Andrew got home from Peru Saturday afternoon, and we left immediately to go to Connellsville for the St. Rita's fair. Although it was an inferno, we ate all our favorite foods, played games, and played bingo.

Sunday Lucia had a birthday party to go to, and Andrew, Greta, and I went to the pool for a swim and dinner with the Clarks.

Monday began a true Week of Chaos. Greta has to be at summer crew every morning at 6:00 a.m., Lucia has her summer camp counseling job this week beginning at 8:15 a.m., Greta has to be picked up at 11, Lucia has to be picked up at 4:30, there's XC in the evening on Tues and Thurs, I have physical therapy Thurs morning, tutoring is on Thursday evening as well, and somewhere in there I have to put in a full work day on campus and Andrew has to work too. At least with one extra parent, food can be procured and cooked. Until that extra parent leaves for California tomorrow! Backup in the form of my parents has been procured.

They kids are having a great time with their new summer activities. Today, they both had good days again but they are completely exhausted.

Greta's week of rowing involves 4 hours of rowing every day, with a break between two-hour sessions. On Monday she tipped over her single boat and fell into the river. Today she traipsed through Verona during the break with two crew friends to get a snack at a Giant Eagle. She is now asleep on her bed (it's 5pm).

Lucia has been assigned to a camp of four-year-olds, which she is very happy about. She had a great first day on Monday and said all the kids love her. Today, she said her four-year-olds were maniacs and described the mayhem that ensued when she began making "coins" out of play-doh, and it was so exciting the kids just couldn't handle it. "They were just circles," she told me. But she nodded, agreeing, when I told her yes, they were circles--but she made them magic. That's what people who are good with children do. (I am not good with children, but I was spectacular with my own children, and there were lots of magic-play-doh-circle moments when they were four, too.)

So, lots of summer fun, but it would be much easier if Lucia could drive. Soon.
