Summer: Mon. 6/14

An eventful day. The tree guy came this morning and took down the rest of our front-yard tree. I'm sad to have lost it, but we have plans to put in either a red bud or a weeping cherry. The guy cut all the wood and left it for Andrew, at his request. He's getting into the NH spirit early and will need an ax stat.

Our couch, which we ordered in January, was finally delivered. One more piece of the puzzle of the Long Room.

The kids had their first day of camp today--Lucia's doing an LL Bean "Lake Effects" camp, where she'll learn to stand-up paddleboard and kayak; Greta's doing a ukulele camp. Greta had a great day, and came home beaming. Lucia came home disappointed--because of lingering weather issues, they couldn't be out on the water today. Hopefully she'll get some paddling time tomorrow.

Farrah is sick. She threw up several times today. I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow. Clearly she knows we're leaving for the beach soon and is starting her plan to make our departure impossible. The vet tech I spoke to told me to give Farrah a Pepcid tonight; so I went to Rite Aid for a pack. Farrah really seems okay, jaunty and playful, and took a nice walk with us tonight. Hopefully it's nothing. We gave her a bath today and she HATED IT but is now fluffy and cute (as always).

We watched the second half of In the Heights tonight, which we'd started yesterday. Andrew and I liked it; the kids seemed less taken. They were expecting another Hamilton, I think.

We're attempting to become vegetarians, or at least mostly-vegetarians. Andrew and I are happy for the motivation to try new recipes, and we've loved many of the new things we've made. The kids are so-so on the whole thing. We're not aiming for 100% compliance from any of us. A shift to majority veggie would be ideal.
