Summer: NH, Wed. 7/7

Kind of overcast today, a slow meandering day. The kids slept in, read, did half an hour of math review. We scattered a box of wildflower seeds I'd gotten at the beginning of the summer; who knows if they'll grow. We had lunch, collected some sticks in the woods for a craft project we're doing tomorrow, read in our hammocks. (A tick fell on Greta, cutting the hammock time short.) The kids played briefly on the floating dock but it wasn't really warm enough for swimming. The real focus of their day was arranging their AG dolls all around the yard and woods and taking pictures of them. We had a fire pit tonight. We read Harry Potter 6 throughout the day.

A nice easy NH Wednesday. But, to keep it real: we are being beseiged by ticks. They seem to appear out of nowhere. We haven't had to do any extractions yet, but we're all feeling very jittery. Mosquitos are bad too; poor Farrah has a terrible looking bug bite right under her eye. There are also a lot of snakes this year, right by the house. Not great. We're not sure if this is a problem we should fix, or a solution to the mouse problem we no longer have. Country life!
