Farrah's 3rd Birthday

Today was Farrah's third birthday! We went out for ice cream in the late afternoon so she could get a Doggie Dish, which is a small cup of vanilla soft serve with pieces of bacon on top. Afterward we gave her two new toys and played in the yard. I can't believe it's been three years. Can't imagine our life without her.

Our big activity today was completing the setup of the pond. Andrew was able to get a rope stretched the entire way across, affixed on either end to trees, so the kids can pull the floating dock along from end to end. Lucia sang the Moana song where the family is navigating and sailing at top volume as she pulled the dock along hand-over-hand. Having the pond infrastructure in place freed the kids today, and not only were they floating around on floats in an elaborate and incomprehensible "taxi" game, but they were willingly rolling off into the water to swim and cool off. The spectre of the snapping turtle/s apparently had faded enough for them to want to be in the water. I even got on a float for a while and floated around. It really is peaceful.

What else: we read a lot, played Rummikub, and sat around the fire pit tonight. A solid NH day.

What We're Reading

Lucia - Amari and the Night Brothers

Greta - Magnus Chase #2 (she finished it in the late afternoon and claimed she was "light-headed" with anxiety because she didn't want to start a new book since we were planning a Books-A-Million trip in the morning to get #3; a few hours without a book threw her for a loop)

Andrew - finished Civil War / hay

Margo - finished Special Topics in Calamity Physics; began The Likeness by Tana French

Read aloud - Little Women
