Home Again Home Again
Saturday, July 16
Long drive home. Lots of traffic, lots of rain. We were all sad to leave but very happy to see our house, which looked twice as big as we remembered. I thanked my past self for cleaning it so well before we left; it was so nice coming home to nice tidied rooms.

A fabulous gift: Mom and Dad visited in the afternoon and brought us cavatelli and manicotti from the St. Rita's Fair, the final day of which was Saturday. Then Mom practiced piano with the girls (who haven't practiced for a month). It rained almost the entire day.

Andrew left for a work trip to NYC. The kids and I embarked on our newest summer craft, resin jewelry. This is a very involved, very messy craft and it makes me very happy to have a basement craft room where we can just leave it all set up and not worry about an explosion of glitter and sticky drips of resin-chemicals. It rained almost the entire day again. In the evening, we had visitors--friends driving from KY to NYC stopped at our house overnight. So great to see them, our first reunion since February 2019. Probably the longest we've gone without seeing each other since we met 25 years ago.

Finally a sunny day. We went to the pool and had dinner there. We watched two episodes of Lost in Space, a show we're all really into. The kids did all their summer work, including a new and improved typing practice using a vintage 1957 learn-to-type book that I found online. This is the same book I, Molly, and Dad learned to type with (my grandmother had this book). It's the best. Forget the fancy online typing programs--this is the secret to touch typing, right here. ff jj ff jj ff jj ff jj ff jj ff jj ff jj ff jj ff jj ff jj ff jj ff fj fj fj fj fj fj
