Strawberries & Farrah's Birthday

We went strawberry picking today, for the first time since 2019. Lovely as always. We got far too many berries then came home and ate some of them with Cool-Whip.

After lunch, all four of us spent a long, peaceful time reading in our hammocks. No porcupines, though we did smell a skunk.

Today is Farrah's 4th birthday, so we went out for ice cream and got her her favorite treat, a cup of vanilla ice cream with a piece of bacon on top. Then we gave her two new toys to play with outside, including a turtle in honor of our snapping turtles.

Andrew made mock steak frites for dinner--a meal we always have here--and it was delicious.

A nice restful day. I finished my newest amigurumi, a Cup Noodles. It's hard to capture how cute it is in a picture.

Wildlife report: The baby birds have flown the nest. We noticed yesterday that there was no demanding chirping. I peered into the nest to make sure there were no dead birds / carnage, and nest was simply empty. They're off on their new bird adventures.

What We're Reading

Margo: The Secret Book of Flora Lea

Andrew: The Wager by David Grann

Lucia: Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (She flew through the entire Divergent triology, finishing the third one last night. She reported this morning that she was sobbing at the end, and Greta affirmed that this was the case.) She's read 10 books in the past two weeks.

Greta: Divergent and Insurgent (She read Divergent in an intense few hours then moved right on to Insurgent. I've also lost track of all the other ones Greta has read--she finished the five-book series that started with The Warrior Heir before starting Divergent.) She's also read 7 books in the past 2 weeks.
