Summer: Mon., 7/8

Back in the swing of regular life. The girls slept in till 9:30, and I ran out early to do some errands. Andrew left for a "work" trip (ie baseball games in Cleveland, and yes they are actually work-related), and I took the girls to the library. They were very excited to redeem their new reading hours for prizes. They've just been reading so much. They stay in bed reading in the morning, read at breakfast, sit down and read at random times. It's a new level of reading love.

It rained for most of the morning and early afternoon, so L&G played in the basement, making an elaborate castle with blocks and Magnatiles and populating it with an odd assortment of animals and small dolls. I can never predict what they'll pull out to play with. When it stopped raining, they played outside in the tinker space.

Later in the afternoon, one of Lucia's friends came over, and I took all three kids to the pool. They had so much fun. I almost couldn't drag them out of the water when it was time to go home. This friend is moving away in a couple of weeks, and Lucia's really going to miss her.

Tonight L&G played dress-up (not exactly sure of the game, but a scepter was involved) and then we watched some of the Home Run Derby, hoping to see Andrew present an award. Alas, it wasn't televised, so we were UP LATE WATCHING BASEBALL, which I guarantee will never happen again in my lifetime.

Dinner tonight may or may not have been cheese fries and mozzarella sticks at the pool, plus a bag of chips (Lucia) and cheese curls (Greta). Summer.
