Quarantine: Wed. 4/8
A light day of homeschooling. Things are tapering off for the holidays, and for spring break next week. This is a good thing. It sounds ridiculous to say it, but we're ready for some downtime--some fully free days. We have a lot to do: games, crafts, puzzles, playing. The kids are just BUSY with all the things they like to do, and it'll be nice to have the week ahead for them to just be free.
Of course, we were supposed to be in Costa Rica as of Friday, with my parents, at a super amazing resort, etc etc. We're disappointed, but it's hard to feel too badly about a cancelled trip in light of what's going on. If a cancelled vacation is the worst we face, well--that's more than alright.
Both kids got into Choose Your Own Adventures today and spent much of the day meandering through the different adventures. They played outside a lot. I don't know what they were doing, but it involved running around a lot with old Elena of Avalor sceptors and their spy backpacks. I sewed more masks and caught up on some book Q&A's. We had linguini with clams for dinner. And my Amazon Fresh order arrived! Full of snacks, dips, and of course the lone bunch of celery.
In case you missed it: I had a piece up today at Past Ten, a literary journal that has writers reflect on what they were doing on a day ten years ago. On April 8, 2010, I was living in California with a six-month-old, preparing to move back to NYC--another life. Give it a read if you haven't yet!
What we're reading:
Andrew: same historical snoozer
Margo: Don't You Know I Love You by Laura Bogart
L&G: Choose Your Own Adventures (our coffee table is covered with CYOA books and Mo Willems books: quarantine in a nutshell)
